A consultation call is a free 15-20 minute phone call to see if we would be a good fit. In this call, you would share, in as much detail as you are comfortable with, what you are struggling with and what you would like to work on in therapy.
I will share about my style and how I believe I can help. I will also discuss fees and scheduling.
If either of us believes we are not a good fit, I would be happy to provide you with referrals for other therapists to contact.

My style is client centered and collaborative. Meaning, I will go with what you are bringing into session. This is your time and your space to work on what is coming up for you.
At the start of our session, I will ask you how you are doing and what you would like to focus on today. You will have space to discuss what has been bothering you and how it is impacting your life. From there, we will focus on the emotions and/or body sensations that are coming as a result of the challenging life event.
The next step is utilizing one of the modalities from the “How I Help” section to help you explore where this distress is coming from. I will be focused and attuned to you the whole way through. My role is to create a safe space for you to explore what is going on by being your ally, sounding board, guide, and teacher. We may collaborate on goals for the week, role play communication skills and/or setting boundaries, or do grounding meditations.
I end most sessions with asking clients "what are you going to work on this week?" This helps you think about what you will do outside of session to continue to support your emotional wellbeing.
If this sounds like what you are looking for, then reach out for a free consultation call.

I believe that everyone has a unique experience with therapy. Length of service depends on goals, needs, and amount of work that you want to do. This varies person to person.
As a clinician who is more client led, I believe a client has a say in how long they would like to be in therapy. If your goal is to work on one specific issue and terminate when you are done then that is when you will be done. If you want more long term support, then we will work together for longer.

My fees are reflective of my therapy background and trainings:
Psychotherapy/EMDR/BSP 50 minute session is $250
EMDR/BSP 80 minute session is $350.
I accept credit, debit, HSA, and FSA through a secure, HIPAA compliant payment system called IVY pay or through the SimplePractice portal. Sessions are billed by the end of the day.
I do not accept insurance, but I am able to provide you with a monthly superbill that you may submit to your insurance for partial reimbursement if you have a PPO plan. Reimbursement is not guaranteed and needs to be worked out with your insurance provider.
Even when Superbills are provided, you are responsible for payment at the time of session, whether your insurance offers reimbursement or not. Insurances also do not cover any additional fees (e.g. late cancellation, missed sessions, letter writing, etc.).
See Good Faith Estimate for additional information.
-
You are able to use your FSA or HSA account to pay for therapy. This is pre-tax money that you have set aside through work in order to pay for medical care, such as therapy. This is a great option when paying out of pocket for your mental health care.
-
Privately paying for therapy allows for more privacy and control over your treatment and mental health records.
Using your insurance is more cost effective. It also allows your insurance company access to your medical records. They will ask for a diagnosis, which puts you in a box you may not want to be in and pathologizes what you are going through.
Your insurance may also dictate length of time they will fund sessions and could stop reimbursement at any time when they believe medical necessity has been met. They may ask for treatment summaries or notes from your sessions in order to pay you or the clinician for the services.
Being able to use your HSA or FSA to pay for sessions helps to cover the cost while allowing for your privacy.
Please note that superbills also ask for a diagnosis.

If you are unable to attend your schedule appointment, please notify me at least 24 hours in advance. Not attending a scheduled session, being more than 15 minutes late, or cancelling under 25 hours will result in you being charged the full session fee. This is due to the fact that I have reserved this weekly or biweekly time just for you.
I am happy to answer additional questions about this policy in our initial meeting.

HOW I HELP
I am trained in a variety of therapies that help you explore how your past is impacting your present. Together we dive into challenging events from the past in order to help support your younger self, re-author the stories you tell yourself, and decrease the distress the past can create.
-
I provide 50-80 minute therapy sessions via SimplePractice's telehealth platform. In those minutes, we will utilize one or more of the following modalities to help you explore what is impacting your life so that we can collaborate on positive life changes. I am a client centered therapist, which means I focus on what you are bringing into session.
As long as you reside in the state of California, we will be able to meet for sessions via telehealth.

Attachment Focused Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (AF-EMDR), which focuses on identifying traumatic events from our past, especially early relational wounds, in order to reprocess and repair the impact it has had on our relationships to ourselves, others, and the world.
This work looks like linking present day struggles (such as anxiety, anger, poor boundaries, depression) to past events. I help you to rewrite the event so it is less activating for you.
-
Brainspotting (BSP) uses eye positions to identify spots in the brain (brainspots) where traumatic memories are stored. Brainspotting utilizes focused mindfulness as well as the body and mind’s innate ability to heal as a way of helping a person process through the identified traumatic events.
The belief is that your mind and body already know what it needs to feel calm and grounded but we can't always access it when we are in a state of activation. This collaborative, client centered work allows you to work through the triggers and return to a place of regulation. My training has focused on how to use BSP within the BIPOC community.
-
Internal Family Systems (IFS), also known as parts work, supports a client in identifying and accepting their protective wounded parts that form in response to traumatic or activating events.
In our work, we will identify and work with these parts of you to help them move through the traumatic events they are stuck in in order to help you respond from a more grounded mindful place.

Nutrition as Therapy uses supplements and nutrition to support mental wellbeing. I use various questionnaires to see how your mood is impacted by your diet or low levels of amino acids. This information helps me to create a plan of action that involves diet changes and supplements to help support improved mood, focus, and energy levels.
